Following on from the recent UK launch, BBC Sport has released a free mobile application for iPhone and iPod touch devices for international users.
The customisable app provides football transfer news, along with live text coverage of many different sports.
Other features, including video, will be introduced soon; as will a version for Android.
The app’s football live scores section allows you to follow the action, whether you’re at the match, or out and about.
For football, it provides a league-by-league overview of the latest scores and goalscorers at a glance, with dedicated match pages for more in-depth information, bringing together starting line-ups, match stats, live text commentary and the post-match report.
The fixtures and results section has been developed to help you keep on top of all the major UK and international football competitions simply by selecting any day in the season from the app’s calendar.
Live text coverage of rugby union’s Six Nations, the new Formula 1 season, Wimbledon, the Ashes, all the golf majors and many other international sporting events will also be available.
Head of interactive for BBC Sport Ben Gallop added: “Our aim is to provide the best of BBC Sport wherever you are. A third of traffic to the BBC Sport site already comes from mobile – a proportion that rises to more than 40% at the weekend when live sport is going on.”
James Montgomery, Controller of Digital and Technology, BBC Global News, said: “Thanks to our responsive mobile site, the sports content we provide on mobile devices is already a large traffic driver for the BBC, which gives us a competitive edge in international markets.
“Now with the launch of our international sports app for iOS devices, we are giving users another simple way to get the content they love, whether it’s checking out how their team have got on, following live text updates on the day’s sporting action or catching up with the latest news.”
